The Blessed

Blessed
is

the man

who
does not
walk in the
counsel
of the
wicked

or
stand
in the way of
sinners

or
sit in the seat
of mockers.

But
his delight is
in the law of
the LORD,

and
on his law
he meditates
day and
night.

He is
like a tree
planted by
streams of
water,

which
yields its
fruit in season

and
whose leaf
does not wither.

*Whatever
he does
prospers

Psalm 1: 1-3

복 있는 사람은
악인의 꾀를

Now

when
Jesus saw
the crowds,

he
went up on
a mountainside

and
sat down.

His
disciples
came to him,

and

he began
to teach
them.

The Beatitudes

He
said:

“Blessed
are the poor in
spirit,

  for
theirs is
the kingdom of
heaven.

4

Blessed are
those who
mourn,


  for
they
will be
comforted.

5

Blessed are
the meek,

   for
they will
inherit the
earth.

6

Blessed are
those who hunger
and thirst for
righteousness,

  for
they will be
filled.

7

Blessed are
the merciful,


    for
they will be
shown
mercy.

8

Blessed are
the pure in
heart,

   for
they will
see

God.

9

Blessed are
the peacemakers,

   for
they will be
called  children of
God.

10

Blessed are
those who are
persecuted

because of
righteousness,

   for
theirs is
the kingdom of
heaven.

11

 “Blessed are
you when people
insult
you,

persecute
you

and
falsely say
all kinds of
evil

against
you

because of
me.

12

Rejoice
and be glad,

because

great is
your reward
in heaven,

for
in the same
way

they
persecuted
the prophets

who were
before
you.

He Sent Out His Word and Healed Them

1

Give thanks
to the Lord,

for
he is good;

his love
endures forever.

2

Let
the redeemed
of the Lord

tell
their story—

those
he redeemed
from the hand of
the foe,

3

those
he gathered
from the lands,

from
east and west,

from n
orth and south.

4

Some
wandered
in desert  wastelands,

finding no way
to a city where they
could settle.

5

They were
hungry and thirsty,

and
their lives
ebbed away.

6

Then
they cried out
to the Lord

in
their
trouble,

and
he delivered
them

from
their distress.

7

He
led them
by a straight way

to a city
where they could
settle.

8

Let them
give thanks
to the Lord

for
his unfailing
love

and

his
wonderful deeds
for mankind,

9

for he satisfies
the thirsty

and fills
the hungry
with good things.

10

Some
sat in darkness,
in utter darkness,

prisoners
suffering
in iron chains,

11

because

they
rebelled
against

God’s
commands

and
despised

the plans of
the Most High.

12

So he
subjected them
to bitter labor;

they
stumbled,

and there was
no one to help.

13

Then

they cried
to the Lord
in their trouble,

and he
saved them
from their distress.

14

He
brought
them out of
darkness,

the utter
darkness,

and
broke away
their chains.

15

Let them
give thanks
to the Lord

for his
unfailing love

and
his wonderful
deeds

for
mankind,

for he
breaks down
gates of bronze

and cuts through
bars of iron.

17

Some
became fools

through
their rebellious
ways

and suffered
affliction

because of
their iniquities.

They loathed
all food

and drew near
the gates of
death.

Then
they cried
to the Lord

in
their
trouble,

and he
saved them
from their distress.

20

He sent out
his word

and
healed them;

he
rescued
them

from
the grave.

21

Let them
give thanks
to the Lord

for
his unfailing
love

and
his wonderful
deeds

for
mankind.

22

Let them
sacrifice
thank offerings

and
tell of
his works

with
songs of joy.

23

Some
went out
on the sea in ships;

they were
merchants
on the mighty waters.

24

They saw
the works of
the Lord,

 his
wonderful
deeds

in
the deep.

25

For he spoke
and stirred up
a tempest that lifted high
the waves.

26

They
mounted up
to the heavens

and
went down
to the depths;

in
their peril

their
courage
melted away.

reeled and
staggered like
drunkards;

they were
at their wits’
end.

Then

cried out
to the Lord

their
trouble,

and

he
brought them
out of

their
distress.

He
stilled
the storm
to a whisper;

the waves
of the sea were
hushed.

were glad
when it grew
calm,

and
he guided
them

to
their
desired haven.

wonderful

Let them
exalt him

in
the assembly
of the people

and
praise him

in
the council of
the elders.

He
turned
rivers into a desert,

flowing springs
into thirsty
ground,

and
fruitful land
into a salt waste,

because of
the wickedness
of those who lived there.

He turned
the desert
into pools of water

and  the parched ground
into flowing springs;

36

there
he brought
the hungry to live,

and they founded
a city where they
could settle.

37

They
sowed fields

and
planted
vineyards

that
yielded
a fruitful harvest;

38

he
blessed
them,

and
their numbers
greatly increased,

and he did not
let their herds
diminish.

39

Then
their numbers
decreased,

and they were
humbled  by oppression,
calamity and sorrow;

40

he who
pours contempt
on nobles   made them wander
in a trackless waste.

41

But

he lifted
the needy
out of their affliction

and
increased
their families like
flocks.

42

The upright
see and rejoice,

but
all the wicked
shut their mouths.

43

Let
the one
who is wise
heed these things

and ponder
the loving deeds
of the Lord.

Boastful, Proud, Abusive, Disobedient

But

There will be
terrible
times

in the last days.

People
will be

lovers
of themselves,

lovers of
money,

boastful,
proud,
abusive,

disobedient
to their
parents,

ungrateful,
unholy,

 without
love,

unforgiving,
slanderous,

without
self-control,

brutal,
not lovers of
the good,

treacherous,
rash,

conceited,

lovers of
pleasure

rather than
lovers of
God

having
a form of
godliness

but
denying
its power.

Have
nothing to do
with such
people.

Exposed by The Light

Have
nothing to do
with the
fruitless
deeds

darkness,

*expose them.

shameful
even to mention

the disobedient do
in secret.

exposed by
the light

visible—

that is illuminated

a light.

Invitations of Wisdom and Folly

Proverbs 9:1-18

1

Wisdom
has built her
house;

she
has set up
its seven pillars.

2

She
has prepared
her meat

and mixed
her wine;

she has
also set her
table.

3

She has
sent out her
servants,

and
she calls
 from
the highest point
of the city,

4

“Let all
who are simple
come to my house!”

To those who
have no sense
she says,

5

“Come,
eat my food

and drink
the wine I have
mixed.

6

Leave
your simple
ways

and
you will live;

walk
in the way of’”
insight.”

7

Whoever corrects
a mocker invites
insults;

whoever rebukes
the wicked incurs
abuse.

8

Do not
rebuke mockers
or they will hate you;

rebuke
the wise

and

they will love you.

9

Instruct
the wise

and they will be
wiser still;

teach
the righteous

and they will add to
their learning.

10

The fear of the Lord is
the beginning of
wisdom,

and knowledge
of the Holy One is
understanding.

11

For through wisdom
your days will be
many,

and years will be
added to your
life.

12

If you are wise,

your wisdom will
reward you;

if you are a mocker,

you alone
will suffer.

13

Folly is
an unruly
woman;

she is simple

and knows

nothing.

14

She sits
at the door of
her house,

on a seat
at the highest point of
the city,

calling out
to those who
pass by,

who go straight
on their way,

“Let all
who are simple
come to my house!”

To those
who have no sense
she says,

“Stolen water
is sweet;

food eaten
in secret is
delicious!”

do they know

the dead are

there,
