A Wise and Discerning Heart

So God said to him,
“Since you have asked for this
and not for long life or wealth
for yourself, nor have asked
for the death of your enemies
but for discernment in
administering justice,

I will do what you have asked.
I will give you a wise
and discerning heart, so that
there will never have been
anyone like you,
nor will there  ever be.
1King 3: 11-12

a blinding

There are
those who hate
the one

upholds

justice

in court

and
detest
the one

who
tells

the truth.

You
levy
a straw tax on
the poor

and
impose a tax
on their
grain.

Therefore,

though
you have built
stone mansions,

you
will not
live in them;

though
you have planted
lush vineyards,

you will not
drink their
wine.

For
I know
how many are
your offenses

and
how great
your

sins.

There are
those who
oppress

the innocent

and
take bribes

and
deprive
the poor
of

justice

in
the courts.

Therefore

the
prudent
keep quiet

in such
times,

for
the times are
evil.

14

Seek
good,

not evil,

that
you may

live.

Then
the Lord
God Almighty
will be

with you,

just as
you say he is.

15

Hate  evil,

love good;

maintain justice

in
the courts.

Perhaps
the Lord

God
Almighty
will have mercy

on
the remnant
of Joseph.

Stone

the living Stone—
rejected

a spiritual
house

to be

a holy priesthood,

offering

acceptable

God

through

For in Scripture

shame.”

Now to you

believe,
this stone

precious.

the cornerstone,”

to stumble

a rock

them fall.”

They stumble

because

they disobey

the message—

which is

also what they were

destined for.

a chosen people,

a royal priesthood,

a holy nation,

special
possession,

that you may
declare

the praises
of him

who
called you out
of

darkness
into

his wonderful

light.

now you are

the people of

Freedom in Christ

Galatians 5:1-26

It is for freedom
that Christ has
set us free.

Stand firm, then,

and do not
let yourselves
be burdened
again

by a yoke of
slavery.

Mark my words!

I, Paul, tell you
that if you let yourselves
be circumcised,

Christ will be of
no value to you
at all.

Again I declare
to every man

who
lets himself
be circumcised

that
he is obligated
to obey the whole
law.

You who are
trying to be justified
by the law

have been
alienated from
Christ;

you have fallen away
from grace.

For through the Spirit
we eagerly await
by faith

one command:

and devour

each other,

watch out

They are in conflict
