Psalm 16

1

Preserve me,
O God:

for in thee
do I put my
trust.

2

O my soul,

thou
hast said
unto the Lord,

Thou
art my Lord:

my goodness
extendeth not
to thee;

3

But
to the saints
that are

in
the earth,

and
to the excellent,
in whom
is

all
my delight.

4

Their
sorrows

shall be
multiplied

that
hasten after
another
god:

their
drink offerings
of blood

will
I
not
offer,

nor

take up
their names
into my
lips.

5

The Lord
is

the
portion of
mine inheritance

and
of my cup:

thou
maintainest
my lot.

6

The lines
are fallen
unto me

in pleasant
places;

yea,
I have a goodly
heritage.

7

I
will
bless

the Lord,

who
hath given me
counsel:

my reins
also instruct
me

in
the night
seasons.

8

I have set
the Lord always
before me:

because

he
is

at
my
right hand,

I
shall
not be
moved.

 Therefore

my heart is
glad,

and
my glory
rejoiceth:

my flesh
also

shall

rest

in

hope.

For thou
wilt not leave
my soul in hell;

neither
wilt thou suffer
thine Holy One

to see
corruption.

Thou wilt
shew me the path
of life:

in
thy
presence
is

fulness
of joy;

at thy
right hand

there are

pleasures

for evermore.

The acts of the flesh

are obvious:

sexual immorality,

impurity

and

debauchery;

20

idolatry

and witchcraft;

hatred,

discord,

jealousy,

fits of rage,

selfish ambition,

dissensions,

factions

21

and envy;

drunkenness,

orgies,

and the like.

I warn you,

as I did before,

that

those who

live like this

will not

inherit

the kingdom of

God.

22

But

the fruit of

the Spirit

is

love,

joy,

peace,

forbearance,

kindness,

goodness,

faithfulness,

23

gentleness

and self-control.

Against such things

there is no law.

24

Those who

belong to Christ Jesus

have crucified

the flesh

with its passions

and desires.

25

Since

we live by the Spirit,

let us keep in step

with the Spirit.

26

Let us not

become

conceited,

provoking

and envying

each other.

The Seven Detestable

There are
six things
the Lord
hates,

seven
that are
detestable
to him:

*haughty eyes,

a lying tongue,

hands
that shed
innocent blood,

a heart
that devises
wicked
schemes,

feet
that are
quick to rush
into evil,

a false
witness who
pours out
lies

and
a person who
stirs up
conflict

in the community.

Revelation 21:3-8

And I heard
a loud
voice

from
the throne
saying,

“Look!

God’s
dwelling place is
now

among
the people,

and he will
dwell with
them.

They
will be
his people,

and

God
himself
will be with
them

and
be their

God.

‘He will
wipe every tear
from their
eyes.

There will be
no more
death’

or
mourning

or
crying

or
pain,

for the old order
of things has
passed
away.”

who was seated
on the throne
said,

“I am making
everything
new!”

he said,

“Write
this down,

for
these words

trustworthy

the glory of God;
